It's the end of another season and I'm pleased to announce that Jeffrey Walter has won the regional championship for the SM class in NASA SE for 2008.
Jeffrey is now a 4 time champion! Jeez. You'd think he'd let someone else have a chance.
Jeffrey wins the end of year toyo payout of $1000 toyo bucks, $1200 from Mazda and $500 from Race Engineering.
In addition he will receive a free Race Engineering Engine!
Quite a haul.
Also, the raffle (based on entries) for the Race Engineering cylinder head was won by John "THE HAMMER" Palazzolo. Congratulate John when you get a chance!
Second place in the championship went to rookie Berny Petersen. Great job by him in his first year racing with us!
Third place was yours truly...
It's been another great year. The program grew by a massive amount this year and I was happy to see so much crossover between scca and nasa.
It was great to race with all of you and to see new and old faces alike.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing next year but I hope to see all of you in the future.
I'd like to thank everyone involved with making this season happen....
Nasa national, Nasa SE (Jim and Julie and everyone else), all the competitors, our sponsors - Race Engineering, OPM Autosports, Balanced Performance, Discovery Parts, Toyo, Traqmate, Mazda and many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. Without these guys we wouldn't have the products and services that keep our racing habits going. Please thank them when you see them and make sure you support those who support you.
A special thanks to Bob Thorton at Race Engineering for such a generous contingency program! An engine, cylinder head, $1000 in cash and $1000 in giveaways. Thanks so much!
Until next year!

Congrats on the win and the prizes. I enjoyed racing with you this year.
Do you have to spend the Toyo Bucks on RA1's?
I have some ideas for how to spend the money!!!

You're good people. Thanks for supporting NASA this year!

Congratulations everyone on your championships finishing positions. Glad to see that NASA SE Spec Miata is growing at such a fast rate. I have to imagine that awesome Race Engineering contingency program helped with that quite a bit.
Thanks so much to Race Engineering for supporting NASA SE Spec Miata!

Congratulations Jeffrey!!!! I know how hard you've worked through the season to get to this point. No doubt that with a new RE motor you'll be even harder to beat next season. Damn it....
Jason - nice overalls in that shot buddy! What's next a camo fire suit and an over/under in the passenger seat? Good job managing NASA SM all year!!!

And thanks to Race Engineering for the sponsorship.
Nice pics. Bernie seemed to be enjoying it more than Jason and Jeffrey. What's up with that?

Well, Jeffrey and I have touched the trophy girls so often over the last 4 years (is that appropriate?) maybe it just doesn't hold the same thrill....

It was a great year and a pretty awesome cap to the season for me. My fastest time at RAtl yet. Of course it was cause I was following Adam and Cliff's lines, but we won't mention that.
Can't wait for next season with that RE pro motor. Of course that means my favorite excuse for why I'm slow will be gone. Damn.
Here's the obligatory "thank you"s Thanks to RE for the motor, contingency and giveaways this year. OPM for the trackside contingency and all the help throughout the year. Do you think a week at Nationals falls under a "free trackside support" ? I don't think there were any conditions on the contingency. Tom won't mind, will he? Discovery Parts for all the kick ass giveaways Traqmate for converting me this year. I think I might even have to go all out and get a TraqCam too.
I was gonna say something smarmy to Steve D, but I still owe you a bucket of money...so, um...thanks for all you've done this year, seriously.
NASA-SE, Jim and Julie Pantas for putting on the great events.
I suppose I should thank Jason. If I don't, I think I might get a baseball bat upside the head. Either way, great racing with you this year and for driving (ha ha, pun) NASA SM.

No worries, Jeff. Smarm away. It won't affect how much you owe me. Just the interest rate.

I had a great time this season. This is my first year racing and I think I made the right choice with SM, not only for the car but for the people. I spend a lot of time pickin' peoples' brains at the track, and with the help of all you guys every session gets a little better.(I gotta get faster so I can keep up with my podium mates!)
Thanks to Race Engineering, Discovery Parts, Toyo, Mazda and everyone else who helped make it happen.
Thanks to Jason Holland for his work with NASA SE SM. It's a lot of work keeping a method to the madness.
(and yes Gary, I was having waaay more fun than Jason or Jeffrey - this podium-girl thing is still new and exciting to me!)

Say, what's the interest rate up to now? %50 compounded daily?

Congratulations Jeffrey Walter on your championship. The big RE power plant you won is in the works and will be the new Gold Standard for the 2009 season.
Race Engineering was proud to sponsor the championship for the NASA SE season in 2008. We saw so many great drivers and excellent races all year long. The level of competition and sense of a great group having a great time racing their hearts out was super. We congratulate all of the drivers and teams.

I'll add my kudos as well; GREAT season and lots of fun racing with all of you. Next season should be even better with the new SSM class working in. I'd like to thank Bob at Race Engineering as well; your support of the series is a great example of how a business can succeed from sponsorship.
Tighten up the belts, '09 should be a heck of a ride!
