I found an old copy of the game Sprts Car GT and can not get it work on XP. Anyone know where I can find the fix?

I've run Sports Car GT on XP with no problems. I'd look at video card compatability first.

Patches can be downloaded here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/sportscargt/index.html

AI sucks. Or should I say that they follow some un-named pro series idea of racing room [Big Grin]

Bruce, do you have SP2 installed? I and other folks I know have found it refuses to run after SP2 is installed.

Todd, Google turns up some hits for fixes, one being http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=176175.

Yep, the AI makes passes challenging... actually it makes just braking hard with a car behind you very risky.

Bill,

Sorry, I only ran it on the original XP. I'll try to run it tonight on SP2.

Todd, what happens when you try to run it? More exact the info, the more gooder we can help. [Big Grin] I remember having to do some cajoling to get it to work. I think I still have a copy at the house and if I can find it will do a fresh install tonight.

I haven't had a chance to try yet, but found this fix, which seems to work for all who tried.

http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=176175ù

To run in Win98 compability mode, right-click on the shortcut, menu item, or .exe file you use to launch SCGT, and choose the compatibility tab. Select the Run this program in compatibility mode... and choose Windows 98 / Windows ME in the dropdown list.

Good Luck,

Bruce, I hope you didn't spend too much time looking for it (see 4 posts above yours). [Wink]

Lance,

Did you read the entire thread? There were lots of other issues that were discussed... set CD Play to random play, 800x600 resolution, replace mss32.dll.

Bruce, yes I read the entire thread. I have had SCGT running on my older box which was XP but not on my new box which is about 3 years old.

The guys at SimBin who made GTR used to have all kinds of patches and fixes for SCGT on their site. Now I think you might find info at the site below. I wasted many years playing this game and wore out two wheels. I lost my game along with my hard drive but will try to reinstall over the weekend and see what happens.

There is a lovely Can-Am patch on the 'net if you want to try hanging onto a car with a massive entry push and a SUBSTANTIAL exit power-based loss of grip, just for giggles!

I bought GTL but I need some time to upgrade my computer...GTL demands more than GTR.
