Silly question, I'm trying to figure out why registration for the double national seems low when we are only two weeks away.

1. Is it because it is less important to the point standings this late in the season?
2. Is it because leaders are trying to save their cars for the runoffs?
3. Is it just the economy?
4. Just plain procastination?

Just curious, I see that the usuals suspects are already in and we'll have fun regardless. [Big Grin]

5. Is it because of the race location?

I'd be going, but I have to run the NASA race at TWS a week earlier. I do like running MSRH backwards, but I like TWS backwards more--probably my favorite track we run. Enjoy guys!

[Confused] mmmhh! Interesting, why don't you like it? I'm not trying to start a debate. Seriously, I'm just curious, I've heard this before. I just started traveling this year; prior to this, I had nothing to compare it to. In my opinion, TWS is indeed fun, TMS.....not so much! and MSR...it is just very different than TWS but IMHO more fun than TMS. I agree, TWS is still my favorite.

Why some people don't like MSRH:

1. Too far from civilization
2. Track is in bad shape
3. No food on site
4. No garage spaces for rent for race weekends
5. No PA system for announcements

Mmm,

I don't hate MSR Houston - just prefer others. I have only run on 8 tracks but when I compare MSR Houston to say Watkins Glen (fabulous) or Laguna Seca (just plain cool) there is simply no comparison. Those are real tracks and MSR is just a little bumpy club track in the middle of a flat, soggy patch of land.

TWS is fun, but I prefer Hallett (which has great food too). TMS has the redeeming factor of being close to my house but is pretty boring - even though I seem to do decently there. ECR is growing on me but I dearly wish it had a single "I'm gonna die" corner and better parking in the paddock. The parking will come in time, but the corner won't. I actually like MSR Cresson in the 3.1 configuration and wish SCCA did races there.

Anybody in the Austin area need a car (or backup) transported to the race this weekend? Debating taking big or little trailer... I like the big one better but don't really want to take 1 car with it.

The Ross family had a great time watching the race yesterday. It was great meeting most of you before the race, thank you for taking the time to visit with us.

Not sure what happened with Mr. York in the carousel on the last lap, but he had a heck of run through the field.

I agree james was flying, rain tires bit him in qualifying, great run through the field. The tard had a really solid race as well, good driver. tired of congratulating Matt, but once again, great job, smooth all weekend. Sad to see the ol chico bail bonds car go down in a blaze of glory. That Ott was awfuly fun to watch coming on to he straight lap after lap, he really has that place dialed in.

Good to see all you guys, I know it was for a really great cause, but man, It sure was tough driving around holding that Texas flag! I sure hope there arent any pictures! RIP Tom Thrash!

"MR York"! Do I have that much grey hair?? Ha!

Car cut out either on fuel (low) or cam sensor going bad. Must have been my turn for a little reliability issue since overall the car has been bullet proof.

Certainly wasn't the weekend I was hoping to have, especially after my excellent runs at TWS and Hallett.

My car got really lean in qualifying and toasted the motor. The car was pretty fat when we tested a couple of weeks ago and we made no changes. I have an AFX, but it's hard to monitor everywhere and frankly I missed it. I'm furious with myself, but I'm also a loss to understand the fat to lean bit!

My eternal gratitude to Hugh Ng for the kindness of loaning me his back up car even after he totaled his beautiful new one on Saturday. What is it about that track and its appetite for Miatas? Thank heavens he wasn't hurt!

I'll be shopping for a new motor...
... and a better way of monitoring mixture.

That was some great racing. I was working corners 10 and 6 this weekend and the general corner worker feeling was that the SM class put on the best shows. kinda bummed I didn't get to meet the great Drago.

Congratulations to the class for great racing up front all the way to the back of the pack. This is Gale’s first year running National events and has done very well this session. All of the top cars looked clean and consistent. Unfortunately looked like CV was sandwiched on the opening laps. Any video of that? And what happened to Hugh on the front straight, was he pushed into the wall or just drive into it? I was working F&C this weekend as my car is still in bit and pieces, hope to have it back together for the November double Regional.

Hughs accident was an unfortunate one.. He got shuffled a little at the start. He started coming back through. Two cars were in front of him going on to the front straight. The first checked up a little, the second a little more. Hugh was getting a run, he got a little loose at track out, he corrected, when he did, his front wheel hooked the curb, it jerked the wheels 90 degrees to the left and straight into the wall, very hard hit. I watched the entire thing, thankfully he was fine. He took it far better than I would have, just one of those things, very unfortuate.

Jim,

Good to finally meet you. Sorry about not making it back out there on Sunday in SSB but my right rear wheel bearing is toast. At best, I would have been a rolling road block as the wheel continued to freeze up. Maybe next time.

Come back down for one of our doubles at TWS! Rob Jones, Hugh, and I had a real hoot on the 2.9 earlier this year. And, there's no doubt the SM guys would love to have you too.
