On first lap there were two cars that made contact going into the turn 4 and the car that initiated the contact bounced into 3 cars. I was behind the mess and attempted to shoot through a huge hole but I was the 3rd and final car that was hit and had to limp into the paddock with some serious front end damage.

Turn 4 is a decent passing zone but not on the 1st lap with cold tires in 35 degree weather. The driver that initiated the contact was not allowed to race in the other two races so I'm sure there was some sort of penalty passed down but don't have any 1st hand knowledge of that.

Willie (Tard), you shoud have been there. Since I dnf'ed the first race and had to start race 2 DFL so you could have beaten me at least 2 out of 3 races!

Good luck to all at MSR-H and I'll see yall at TWS in March.

Sorry, I was responding to the convo about 99's vs. 90's that was the point I was trying to illustrate.

Results were posted immediately after the race on YozoY.com via the twitter feed [Wink]

Looks like Willie already gave us even better links.

yes, I had the 4.3 installed and had all of control arms replaced and with new bushings installed last month. The car felt much different than before. Some of that was due to the new suspension I'm sure as the old arms and bushings were beat up on the car.

Beat my old fast lap time by over 1/2 second so apparently the 4.3 is faster at MSR-H.

I did not have any intentions of selling the car "this early"...

The stars seemed to aling regarding the sale. I had a solid weekend and kept the car up front in all three races. A spectator that watched the Saturday races approached me regarding the Spec Miata class and wanted my thoughts. He then proceeded to ask about buy versus build, I quickly encouraged him to visit this site as there are a number of threads regarding this topic. I told him that my car would likely be up for sale within the next few months and would contact him prior to posting it, if interested. Well that was all it took, he was interested NOW and wanted to discuss price NOW. We agreed on a price after Sunday's race and he picked up the car yesterday (its for his son). It was a very tough decision for me.

My future... Gray area right now... I have a 1999 daily driver that I can convert but still need to put some thought into it... I love racing and enjoy spending time with friends at the track. Odds are that I will be back in a car, just not sure when.

You know, Andy is the reason the 1.6's didn't get any help this year.
Maybe we should get a collection together to keep him from racing this year...

Good Luck and keep it clean, looking foward to hearing about the race and the results. Looks like 17 entrees with 10 being 99-00 year models, the rest are 1.6s. Wonder if any 1.8s will show?

Well one 99 won't be there. We were supposed to drive down last night but Dallas got hit by it's biggest snow storm on record. With zero clearing equipment up in North Dallas we decided to wait till today - but then there was ice on the road. Sigh.

Have fun and race safe. I hear there is a SE driver lurking in his 99.

See the 1.6 can podium if the 99s knock each other out. Sorry to see McSpaden pull up lame.

Sounds like a busy weekend. Which 99's knock themselves out? What happened to Saturday's contact protest (was there really a protest)? What happened in FF? Anything else? Details please.

Dollahite got loose in the Carousel and gave York a good bump, then he started to tank slap a bit and gave York a harder bump which forced York off outside, into a huge puddle of standing water, looked like he was jet skiing. I couldn't see where Dollahite ended up because he made it around a bit further around the Carousel. York managed somehow to keep the car going and get back on track but he resigned. Dollahite gpt back on but he was back to about 10th. All of that action gave McSpadden about a 2.5 second lead on the field which he increased to about 3.5 seconds. I couldn't tell what happened but McSpadden was off pace about 10-11 laps in and pulled into the pits.

Van Vurst protested Ceasar for contact in the Keyhole. No action taken.

(Not an eyewitness report put together through conversations) In the FF race before lunch with about two laps to go (didn't catch the numbers) two FF entered 16 with red FF inside and black outside, 3/4 through the turn reds outside front catches the black FFs front inside tire and launches him up and over into the tires in 17. Hard hit, driver unconscious, car WOT for about a minute after impact. This left a large puddle of oil at the exit to 17, Kent Carter got a better view of this than me, he might be able to elaborate.

Sounds like a fun weekend. I'm not a big fan of that track though. I think I left there knowing I left a second or so on the table last time. Congrats and condolences to Aaron,James,Luke and Chipster. Sounds like you all had your share of good and bad luck. Kent looks like good showings both days... I think Sideshow gave you guys a pass, something tells me I wont be that lucky at Hallett! [Big Grin]
Congrats to Craig Berry on P2 yesterday in a new car even with afew teething problems. Great guy to work with and glad I could help.

I'm glad the FF guy was ok. It looked bad at first.

I drove much better on Saturday than Sunday. My decent finish on Sunday was a gift from all of those didn't finish or finished wounded. I nearly caught Luke Bickham for 4th after Chip punted him off and Luke was limping around (I need to see if I have the video of the punt). I've never seen a guy more out of control or with more motor. Very impressive. Several times he'd made a big mistake and I'd say "got him now!" and he'd straighten up and motor away. Sheesh. Never, ever seen that before!

All in all... great weekend!

I caught you in the keyhole, the worst possible time! You let Ceasar through, but must not have seen me in time to pull over. I never caught back up to Ceasar after that. Sorry you had the failure! Seriously sucks because you were driving very well!

Do I turn my 99 Hard S into a killerfast SM or seek a donor?

[yep] interesting indeed.

My videos are posted on YozoY.com enjoy [Wink] Yes, you'll need an account to view them there, sorry! but it's free [Smile]

I enjoyed racing this weekend with everyone. Patience is your friend. It paid off on Saturday's last lap yet again. Sunday was just about consistancy and avoiding mistakes. I had a nice battle with Kent for a few laps and then 99 boys started to fall off one by one. Not what we want to see but glad to be in a position to capitalize.

See you all at TWS, be safe.

P.S. I need a 99.... [banghead]

VanVurst and as always Luke are a ball to run with! Thanks to Drago for building a great car...good right out of the box! John Phillips an Robert Lloyd for all the track work.
