Any grandfathering of the RA1 planned for NASA a`la SCCA's 7/1/09 ruling?

I'm only asking because I want to know.

I've put the bug in nationals ear. I hope we'll get some sort of extension. I doubt it will be a long as 6 months for the plain fact that we've known about this change for alot longer than SCCA.

Hope this helps

Jason

Jason:
Kudo's to NASA for allowing the RA1's as a rain tire all of next season! Uncommonly good common sense. I may even forgive them for the June Mid Ohio "one lap race" atrocity!

+1 for the NASA rain ruling.

Not many guys planning to change rains. Could win "Best Protest" of 2009.

Do we know if there's a difference in rain performance between the two, or is it just the fact that we have the opportunity to use the RA1's that are still around that makes folks happy?

My guess is that NASA is doing what they can to encourage participation by easing the burder of buying several sets of new tires at once.

FWIW, I used a set of full-tread R888s for rains last year and was happy with their performance.

I have a feeling driver skill rules almost everything in the rain. We had a guy on R-888's at New Jersey and we saw no real difference on full tread in the wet.

Denny is correct.

I got some good news about the longevity of the R888.

I just saw some r888's on an SM after the 8 hour enduro at Road Atlanta today.

They were started at 4/32 and they looked very good after the race after only rotating once. I would guess they were 2.5-3/32.

I was impressed and I feel alot better about these tires after seeing this.
