I need to buy a seat soon and have some questions.

Is there a local-ish shop where I can buy it?

Any recommendations on a non-aluminum seat that will fit a cage to be built by one of the local shops? I'm 5'10", 185lbs, ~36" waist.

Thanks for the input.

IMO, The best place to try out seats with the biggest selection is at the track.(regional)
You would have to ask to try them.

Also try to wait until the last minute to purchase it because they expire.

I have a Racetech.
Got mine from

The last regional would have been great. I had wanted to go but I had a wedding to go to. Family own out.

I'd love to try a RaceTech to see how I fit. Seems like a very good seat. If I may ask, what are you dimensions?

You're the same size as me. Sparco Pro ADV. Be sure to consider 'halo' seats.

When was the last time you had a 36" waist?

Just take Randy's seat, he doesn't race anymore and couldn't fit into a seat that fits someone with a 36" waist.

Randy, I warned you about drinking all my beer...

Vegas baby. Enjoy battling it out. I haven't done any indoor karting in 2 years. Last time was in San Diego area at K1. I was 1/2 a second off the record there.

We did indeed exchange PMs last December. I forgot. I'll PM you and we can set something up in the next few weeks.

The only thing left for me to do on this car is cage and safety equipment. Then I need to buy a tow vehicle. Then something else will probably come up. [Smile]

I'm hoping to make the spring SCCA school for SFR. Should have enough time to make that deadline.

I am considering halo seats. I don't want to have to do this again after the cage is built so I figure I'll try and get a good seat now and save on headaches later.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Sparco Pro ADV seat.

I did find that Griffin in Berkeley has Recaros so I plan on heading up that way in the next few weeks to see how I fit. I'm hesitant to spend a ton of $$ w/o putting my butt in the seat first.

IO Port has seats in stock and are very helpful. They are in Lafayette, if you beat Ken up he will give you 10% off.

Griffin Motorwerke in Berkeley is a Recaro distributor. They have a showroom where you can try all the seats.

It's not indoor, we're running from 8:30p to 6:30a in the Mandalay Bay parking lot, 7/10s mile track.

I got my seat from Craig and his pricing was good and he is a SFR SM racer. Helps him keep racing, so I didn't mention the others but there are some and we can talk about later.

100% AGREE to make sure you like the fit of the seat before you buy.
I tried sitting in a couple seats in cars at the various events. I was specifically looking at Halo seat too. I found the UltraShield seat's shoulder wing hit my shoulders poorly making for a pressure point. I ended up with a Racetech 4009WHR and I am a thin person but the seat does not feel big. I bought it from out of state so sorry no help with a local dealer.

Thanks I'll give them a call. Spoke with Tony at TD earlier and am probably going to buy the seat in the next 2-3 weeks.

Yep. That is the consensus. I've seen some of his cages at the events I stopped in at earlier in the year.
