I picked up a supposed Torsen diff to find out it is a clutch type 43Ring 11Pinion RX7 diff. Oh well. The price was right so I am still in need of a 4.3 LSD. I have another friend with a Miata Torsen but 4.1 gear ratio. Anybody out here in the SFR region have Torsen with a 4.3 gear set? I have the half shafts, drive shaft and a carrier support for the Torsen. Let me know if any of you have one and how much you would want for it.

Can't you change the 4.1 to a 4.3?

I found mine locally on craigslist for $500 for the complete setup - driveshaft, torsen, axles, PPF

The dismantler didn't know how to check for a Torsen. I got the VIN and called the Mazda 800 helpline to get options on the car advising it had a Torsen. Then I checked out the "diff spotters guide" on Miata.net and went over there. Sure enough it was a Torsen. I didn't educate the guy on the differences. [Smile]

Ron, yes you can change the gears but I still need a torsen, so I am trying to get one with gears.
I have been watching craigslist but have only seen 4.1 torsens and not 4.3.

I'll have after the 25hr.

If I sell it prior I'll prob need one during the race... If I have one and take it as a spare odds are it wont be used.

My car already has a torsen 4.1. Where can I get the gears to swap to a 4.3?

Probably cheaper to buy a 4.3, and sell the 4.1 than swap the R&P. Close to a wash at least depending on what you pay for parts and labor.

There are parts you must replace and tools+know how required to swap a R&P. I think the MS price for the ring gear was about $500 and there are plenty of little bits that need to be replaced too such as various nuts, bolts, and a crush sleeve that can only be crushed once.

If you set it up wrong, you risk having a lot of money into an expensive part with a short life expectancy.

I bought my 4.3 from David this past spring sight
unseen. My mechanic and I were very pleased with what we received.

Thanks Dave! [Cool]
