Well someone had to say it. GIANTS ARE WORLD CHAMPS! Being a native San Franciscan, it's a big deal... Ok I feel better... Thanks.. BTW, I am no longer racing SM as I have sold my car. I will still be racing as I have purchased a beautiful 99 V8 miata.. You know how I like to burn rubber.. Dan
No one will have the "I didn't see the car" excuse
Go Giants!!

You, Dean, and... me!
My '94 just got back from Flyin' Miata and is now packing a GM Performance Parts LS376/480 (6.2 liter LS3 with a hot cam, 480 hp) mated up to a T56 trans and Caddy CTS independent rear. The suspension and brakes got worked over too, and they added a rollbar.
Mine's a boulevard cruiser for now, but still puts a HUGE grin on my face. I'll be 40 next year and I can't imagine a better midlife crisis car.

Welcome to the fold, boys! I'm sooooooo happy to have Dr. Dan join me on the track in one of these stupid-fun cars. It will be good to see him smiling every weekend. This should also obviate the need for smoky paddock burnouts in his *other* V8!
Pat - congrats on a real stunner! That thing is gorgeous. I've already got ideas for my NEXT LS1 miata. I guess that one will be Laura's?
Cheers,
Dean

BTW, I know of at least three other LS1 miatas either fully built or in the works in the Bay area. One is going to be primarily a street car, but the other two are race cars. Soon we'll have a class.
Anyone else interested?? Tempted??
Cheers,
Dean

The CTS diff is very good, but trying to hook up 225/45-15 R888s behind a powerplant like that, especially in 40 degree weather, is a recipe for... fun, if not a lot of forward momentum.
Last night I got on it in 3rd at 35 mph or so, and the rears immediately broke loose. Might head out later to see how it works in 4th...

P.S. For those interested and/or skeptical, my car post-conversion is now 2580 lbs, 52/48 weight distribution. That's with A/C and power steering retained.

Pat, I have a '99 that I am seriously thinking of converting to a LS3 Miata. The engine I have chosen is the one you installed on your '94. I will probably make it a track car, not street. I do believe that you need more rubber on the ground to take advantage of the new power.
Did Flying Miata use the V8 Roadsters cradles and tubular upper and lower control arms?

We're trying! Clint and Vadym are working on the cage now, the motor is in pieces in the shop. We've got everything to bolt it together except belts, transponder, and trans.
It'll either work, or fail miserably. It fails miserably, LS3 FTW.

You guys are bad influences. Maybe I'll wait to see what you come up with aero and fender flare-wise, then rip you off shamelessly. I've got the Megasquirt thing figured out, so that's something.
Now if only I could keep front hubs under the car I'd be all set.

The v8 Miata race car is going together soon. Making some final decisions and gathering the reat of the parts to do it now. We have a couple customers with v8 miatas, one of which we built as a street car for a customer. He drove it to Texas the day after we finished it and averaged 28mpg on at least one tank.
