Attention SM racers attending the T/Hill Double Nats this weekend. Please vote to change from group 1 to group 3.As indicated in the pole the reason is to allow SM drivers to also compete in STU.I had attempted to move STU however a SFR board member David Allen ,who has entered a SSM in STU refused to agree solely on the grounds that it would cause him to finish further back in the field by allowing potentially faster drivers from SM to compete in both classes. This is not B.S.
Thanks,
Marc Hoover

Marc, what cars are you and Kim driving in STU?

According to the GCR "The STU (World Challenge
Touring based) target performance is 250hp."

I believe ITA cars are allowed in STU.

Sorry Marc, turns out I can't make this one.

I'm pretty sure that is just a target performance and you can enter anything you want as long as it's not over 250hp.

The deed is done, SMs are in Group 3.

Since it takes two SM's to make 250hp, perhaps SMs running STU should be allowed to take the short cut from 7 to 14?

Bernie Ecclestone would allow this...

No, not really.

Although a fully-built STU car would blow away an SM or ITA Miata (or even an ITR car), there are specific preparation allowances, but not an explicit horsepower limit (in other words, legality is not determined on a dyno, it's done by looking at modifications, just like the other categories.) STU is not ITE. And minimum weight is assigned based on displacement.

There is also a separate allowance to allow all newer IT cars in without changes under the IT ruleset.

But you are right, ANY CAR can enter STU as long as it is not modified beyond the allowances and it has an engine smaller than 3 liters. There is no specific list of cars.

For now its my ITAish car.I have 225+ hp in the works. The car needs to also lose about 300 lbs. to get to minimum weight of 1980 lbs. I am also working a Mazdaspeed MIata Turbo as well @ 2200 lbs,the trick is making the turbo suck through a 33mm hole.Presently there is no alternate turbo approved so it does make it challenging.
