Trying to find out if 2001 cars follow 1999 rules for set up
and are they a competive year

They follow same guidelines for set up but the car as it is now is NOT competitive. Many people have tried to trick the variable cam timing but they just don't work.

There is a thread that covers this, please try searching. As noted in that thread Tom Fowler at OPM and Steve Bertok at Panic Motorsports field competative 2001 cars in the Southeast.

fooling around with VVT or ignition timing is illegal.

thanks for that info to
ramjet8 said many people tried to trick the variable timing so i assumed that was a problem area that needed to be adressed
