NASA (National Auto Sport Association) and SpecMiata.Com owner, Jim Daniels, announced a new class featuring the 2006 Mazda MX5. The new class was developed to allow pro and amateur racing enthusiasts a place to compete in the new and soon to be popular 2006 Mazda MX5. Utilizing a very successful spec formula the cars are eligible for both professional and amateur racing. “I am very excited about this new series. It seems to have a lot of appealing qualities and I am looking forward to seeing its success,” said Jerry Kunzman. “I recognized that the new car needed more places race for its growth to be realized. Having worked the past 6 years developing the Spec Miata class, I have the same gut feeling for success we see there in the new series. I approached NASA because of their progressive stance in providing a place for car enthusiasts to compete while keeping current with their members interests,” said Jim Daniels.
