Thanks, I corrected the links too. I got so flustered when the announcement broke the forum layout I forgot to double-check my urls [blush]

More information is in the general discussion forum as well as over at the new site.

Mike,

Needs to be said: Thanks for all your hard work on this site and the new mazdaracers.com site. These migrations are never easy and we appreciate all you are doing to keep us sm.com junkies happy. Congrats on the new site. It looks to be an excellent piece of work and a significant upgrade from the current digs.

Thanks Mark. I can't take all the credit as I have lots of help from site volunteers and the entire community as a whole but it's nice to be appreciated from time to time.

Gotta love the challenge question.
Anything else and I'd think the site was a hack. [Wink]

Thanks Mike for all of your efforts in this. Looking forward to a speedy search.

The classifieds are currently open. The layout is still under development, which is why I had it closed yesterday. All registered members are allowed up 3 active ads free of charge for the time being.

And no peeking behind the curtain! The subscription take your money but does not provide any additional services at this time.

Search: Fast doesn't begin to describe it. Search all, click...boom, done! Not quite 10 years of archives to search...but, there's no 'update' after every forum is searched!!!!

No more using google site search, yea!

That alone was worth the price of admission.

New web site is slick! Thanks for keeping up with the technology!

I ended up at this forum site with confusingly similar name and subject by chance:

REMOVED LINK SO WE DONT HELP IT STICK [Smile]

Actually it is the top hit when you google "Mazda racers". It took me a minute to figure out it wasn't the same. Is there any connection?

No connection except it's about Mazda Racing. We are now moving up the Google / Bing / Yahoo charts (kinda cool to see them listed as online users at the new site) but it's only been open to them for 48 hours.

We will get to the top pretty quick. With specmiata.coms pagerank and 1.2million in-links, along with the content you guys provide.

There are three possible answers. I do not think they are case sensitive but I did enter them grammatically correct.

Yes, I agree but Mikes working on it, Rome wasn't built, etc.

I seem to be hitting "View New Content" because it's like this site. SMugshots on it poping up would be cool making it just like it.

Classifieds needs location.

The blogs, Recent Status, etc. should be a 5 max on the right. IMO, makes the page too long otherwise. I know I can min. but I do want to see.

Edited Status Update to display only 5.

Classifieds is still a work in progress. There are two applications available and both are lacking. The Classifieds here are pretty heavily modified and it looks like I will have to start over... so still deciding which of the two lacks less.

I have a homepage (portal) with gallery random photo but right now it's either as a thumbnail or full size [Smile] Need to sort out the css or dbase call for the medium screen size. It should be ready by the 1st.

I also have a content creation system that I am learning that will allow for some pretty amazing frontpage features to make it more mazdazine'ish

Thanks for the suggestions!

Any possibility to have a feed for all the forum posts (seems to be missing from the nice list of feeds)?

Depending om the flow of posts there might be a need for different feeds for different parts, but I don't think so (unless the flow will be 4+ times the flow on SM.com).

This is great input gang. Please keep it coming and post it over there if you can. The new site if for all of us, want it to reflect the mass wishes as best we can. I'm working on it as well and not looking here much as a result, time HOG. Send me an email with any suggestions jim@jimdaniels.com.

Classifieds for non commercial will be free and PLEASE, blog about your race events. My personal favorite thing to read is race stories, I'm a junkie for it.

Oh, don't forget our iRacing MX5Cup.com series. Winner will get a real ride in a MX5 Race Car. We have forums talking about the series now, lots of other news to come. The site for the series, http://www.MX5Cup.com, will be live soon with rules, entry lists, sponsors, schedules etc...)

New SM site direct link....

I do see where it will list the 10 latest posts. Is that not sufficient? Any idea what an average day here looks like number wise? I can do the math but I dig crowd participation [Smile]

Most recent 10 posts would be great! To save space on the home page maybe each feed could have the 3 latest posts(blogs/status updates/recent topics/posts)but the tab could be hit to expand to 10 for each [yep]

Regional forum you just changed is really making the new site feel like home!

Try "New Content" and see how you like it. Having the last 5 or 10 posts will be of reduced use for less frequent users (10 posts seem to fly past fairly quickly.
Maybe replace the last new topics with last updated topics (which is the same as you see on sm.com fron page as I see it).

There are many ways to do the same thing. Giving the current (or even the default) way a chance for a couple of weeks might change the wishes (old dogs sometimes can learn new tricks [Smile] ).

And it seems like I triggered it a few posts up [tipsy]

10 last posts for an RSS reader would be good start, you will miss some if your reader is not refreshing often enough (i.e. 20 posts while you were off-line).
But I use RSS feeds from other forums which show 10 posts, and that works quite well (The posts you miss are often the earlier ones in long discussions, and you often go in a read the thread as a whole if it's interesting).

I love the look and of the new site - in a word, SLICK !

One thing that I use daily on SM.com is the "Recent Forum Posts" which is on the home page of both sites... It would be great if there was one within the Spec Miata Subforum of MazdaRacers too.

Um, "view new content" doesn't seem to have recent forum posts, am I missing something?

Anyone notice that "mazdaracers.com" is bringing you to "mazaracers.com" today? And I won't take a facebook log in?

Are you logged in?
View current content is really "posts not read since last visit". That is, if you read a post a 10:15am and then come back at noon and do "view new content", that post you read at 10:15am doesn't show up in the list. If you combine "mark all items read" on the results page after you've read the ones in which you are interested, then when you come back and do "view new content" you will only see new posts since your last visit.
