It's true. All our guys did just great, held up thru a very stressful 4 day multi-faceted evaluation and our now full-fledged 2009 Jetta TDI Cup drivers. I know for a fact that (fellow proud papa) Brian C and I came back with a bunch more grey hair than we left with! Jim Ellis

Congratulations to Ryan, as well as the other youngsters. Gotta get these kids outta the way for the old folks like me to have a chance!

Congrats guys! It's an awesome series for the up and coming. Good luck and we will see you guys at the track (actually you will see me in the hospitality tent sipping on beer and coffee while you all get yelled at and are stressing out) HeHeHe. This is a lot of fun for us also. Talk soon and congrats again.
Hopefully all the SM training will reap some rewards for Devin and Ryan. I expect them to be in the top 10 at VIR as the 2 of them probably have more laps there then any of the other drivers.
Mark Pombo will surely be the guy to beat all season as he showed he was still the quickest. Hopefully we can tie a rope to his bumper until we can figure out why he is so fast. Mark and Derek Jones were both real helpful making the new crop of former SM racers feel welcome.
Slammin Sammy was REAL fast in the autocross tests. Too bad he didn't make the age cut. I have a new respect for Sammy's driving ability, I think he had the fastest autocross time in the high speed cicuit, about a half second faster then the lead instructor who had many runs to perfect his run. Good thing he was too old.
Should be a fun year. I guess there are about 6 or more SM drivers in the field and if they can look out for each other it may pay some dividends come race day.
Of course it was tough for me only being able to watch all the action. I did get to ride around Infeneon in one of the Jetta TDI Cup cars and they are a lot faster then they look and sound. 300 plus ft-lbs. of torque, race slicks and brakes from an Audi R-8 will put a smile on your face.
