Thanks for posting the videos Brian. Couldn't really tell what triggered the first lap incident. Any major damage for anyone?
Sorry I couldn't race with you guys this weekend, this is what happened to me Friday.

My take, as if anyone asked...

a. Under late braking the Silver #38 (Chuck) got into the back of the Black #10 (William Jr)& got him loose. (Brian's view has this best)
b. #10 had to correct and moves suddenly to the left toward the White #71 (Curtis).
c. #71 moves left (to avoid #10) into the Blue & Yellow #12 (Grant)
c. Then all hell broke loose

I'd love to see Chucks vid if he has one...

Looked like a normal Spec Miata race with a bunch of nut-jobs trying to win on the first turn.
Looks like moves I'd try 6.5 times out of 10.
Looked like fun!

Come on Tyler......don't let replacing a rear subframe, left rear suspension, spindle, muffler, front left suspension, quarter panels, 2 wheels, 4 flat spotted tires, etc, and going on the frame rack scare you away from that T1 race start adrenaline!

That's a lot of unnecessary carnage. And, all for trying to win the race on the first turn.

I've heard it said that if you want to avoid such situations, qualify better. But this happened at the front.

It can happen anywhere, anytime. But first turn carnage is hard to justify as "just racin'." That's not racing. That's demolition derby and sitting in the grass. It's rude racing.

I feel bad for those who were behind this mess and had no place to go.

This was well before the brake zone. Watch the tail lights. Not clear from the videos why the black car jogged left so quickly.

Eric, all of qualifying was under full course caution so the grid was fubar. The black cars regularly qualify towards the front.
