You guys running GTR need to try out their new effort, GTLegends ,it has more variety of cars closer to the Miata. I been running sims as long as JD and this is the first one that responds WELL to constant throttle steer! The AC Cobra and Mustang are point and shoot, toss it in and power slide all the way through the turn oh what fun! This one even beats the Great GPL! WARNING though it takes a very beefy machine to run it!
P4 1500mhz 256 mb GeForce 5200 AGP 640 mb ram
Gotta run at 640x480 16 just to get 30+ frames a sec.!!

No I have not tried rFactor though I have heard of it. If you like the Porsche you need to try thr 911RSR in GTLegends! There is also a 906 but it is still locked, damn! Just got it on Christmas and still working on it. Trying to get mostly diamond trophies, first place on highest difficulty, 5 so far and one gold. I'll try to get a hold of rFactor but I have my doubts . Check out the website www.GTLegends.com
Yes I played many hours of GPL. We had trouble getting into the top 5 until we got our MOMO wheel, now we can put it up front and win some! GPL was king till GTR but NOW ITS ALL GTL! Wow too many initials! If you like this SIM thing trust me on this GTLegends is about as good as it gets right now!

I got my copy of the US version from GoGamer.com not sure if they have any more but the GTLegends site says more for the US on FEB 6. Yes the lotus is necessary early on in the trophy hunt. The game also has a Lotus Elite.
Car List:
Austin Mini Cooper Abarth 1000TC Alfa Romero GTA Austin Healey 3000 BMW CSL (fast!) Chevy Corvette (monsters, one has over 500hp!) DeTomaso Pantera Ford Capri (this and Escort fly!) Ford Escort (yes I said the ESCORT flies!) Ford Falcon Ford GT-40 Ford Mustang Ferrari 275GTB/C Jaguar E-Type Jaguar MKII Lotus Cortina Lotus Elan Lotus Elite Mercedes 300SL Porsche 914/6 Porsche 911 Porsche 906 Renault Alpine Shelby GT350 Shelby Cobra (point and shoot beast lots of fun!) TVR Griffith 400
Most of these have different paint schemes and some different models and hp rating for 90 different cars to buy! All from 60's and 70's. I havent tried live for speed yet either but I know this has got to be as good or better for feel and driver feedback! (sorry LFS fans) I'll have to compare but it will be extremely difficult with GTL on my hard drive! I've driven most of the driving sims that have come down the pike since Papyrus' Indy 500 in '90 and this is without a doubt the best so far! I promise if you have the machine to run it you will not be disapointed!

If you like GTL, you will love rFactor (long term). Image Space Inc. ( http://www.imagespaceinc.com ) is the developer of rFactor and GTL was built on the same engine, except there are limitation to what can be added to the game. rFactor is open for the modding community, and if anyone here is good with 3D modeling and physics, a Miata mod could be built and added. There is a Speed World Challenge GT mod due out within the next couple of months that looks unreal (great video: http://files.filefront.com/NAGTMOVIErar/;4362114;;/fileinfo.html ).
I have both the US and German relaeses of GTR but will wait for the US release of GTL. Another sim that I have a lot of interest in is NetKar Pro which should be released during Q1 2006.

David, Yeah smooth is the key for GTL for wins and lap times. I'll try live for speed when I get done with GTL. All the sims I've driven, none have allowed drifting and power slides with such consistency. Some, like GPL, would respond well to unintentional drifts if you were quick and did the right thing to correct it, but with GTL I can purposely throw the car into a slide and throttle steer through the turn without fear of losing positions. The cars are very predictable in a drift and it makes for some great fun! I'm sure live for speed is good but GTL is definitely at the top and worth every dime for anyone who likes sim driving! Just try it and you will see! The demo doesn't do it much justice either so don't judge by that!

I have not yet purchased rFactor but have heard that this will be the new sim game that replaces all the others. There is great cooperation with the entire sim community for modders to create some fantastic mods for this game.
rFactor is very promising but it doesn't have the feel for me that GTR does. The thing that is missing is the steering feel when you lock up, the tires lose traction etc. GTR has that down but in rFactor it feels wooden. rFactor does have a superb conversion of Barber Motorsports Park that is right on. rFactor is supposed to be coming out with a patch soon that addresses a lot of the issues. I'll try that and see what the result is.
Cheers, ...Colin

Now that you guys are getting hands on GTLegends how about some feedback. Does it live up to my hype or what? BTW a best friend has completed the career mode on Proffesional diffuculty and got ALL PLATINUM Trophies. That means first place in every series on the highest difficulty. Him and I have been chopping tenths of a sec. off each others fastest times for years in every sim thats come down the pike. He just has more time to play than I. I'm on lvl c with 6 platinum and one gold so far. The last two races are 60 lap enduros, one at Monza (2 hours)and the other at Spa (3 hours)! He thinks that the Pantera is the Best car overall. How about posting lap times in what cars so we, the unfortunate dial up users (live in the boonies), can judge our performance with the fortunate ones that get to race together? I'll post mine when I get home

It is awesome, best I've raced, better the FIA.
I'm not a force feedback guy so rFactor is great to me.

Just started playing GT Legends. Very fun. However, I can't get left foot braking to work. Is there some adjustment to controls to allow this? BTw, I am using the Logitech Momo wheel.

I seem to remember GTR had a setting to allow LFB. If you don't set it, I believe pressing the brake will remove throttle. Or maybe that was F1 2001? I haven't installed GT Legends yet.
