For those of you that have a setup, and especially for those that have tried different monitor setups, would you reccommend

* multiple monitors - 3 x 24" monitors
* single big screen Monitor - 50-60"

which in your opinion gives the best immersion and enjoyment? Thanks in anticipation

Danny, there's no comparison. Triple-screen is the only way to go.

Here's my setup:

Give me a shout if you need any hardware recommendations or anything along those lines.

Colin - Why do you say triple head is the way to go - say compared to a large screen 1920x1080 133Hz LED - very interested in your thoughts on this

Danny- Once you go triple head, single head won't even compare. As far as monitors go, I'm clueless.

Is 3 monitor support part of the individual game software package, or PC hardware/software dependant? I run my PC on 2 monitors. I wouldn't know how to set it for 3 but you can get some nice monitors for pretty cheap these days.

Danny, it's all to do with the field of view. If you have one large monitor you are essentially looking at a massive version of what you see on my middle monitor there. To make it look real (what's on screen is the proper size) you have to sit really far back. So you're basically looking through a really large letterbox. In triple screen you have great peripheral vision but most important you angle the monitors towards you and it wraps around. My monitors span 5 feet across [Smile] My head is 2 feet from the screen and the monitors almost fill my peripheral vision. Very, very immersive.

I mounted them using mdf and piano hinges and some diy aluminum to hold the monitors on the table. Very ghetto but it works.

You can set up three monitors using the ATI 5 series cards. It's the "eyefinity" technology. You can grab three nice 24" monitors for less than $500.
