Have there been other ECU swaps at other NASA and SCCA events and what have been the results?

Considering there are plenty of posts with concern about modified ECU's is this an effective way to police it?

The Wheels America series in Texas did that a few times. They took the top 10 finishers' ECUs and then had a drawing to redistribute them among those 10 cars. (keeping the right ECU with the right type of SM) Some "slower" cars gained speed and some "faster" cars couldn't keep up. Plenty of drivers were unhappy.

Having just spent $150 bux to dyno tune (read adjust timing for max HP) with my stock ECU, I wouldn't be to happy if i got one that needed that again! I think we should all just shut up and DRIVE!

Instead of swapping ECU with another competitor, a better option is to swap with Mazda supplied/verified ECU. That way, one won't get a "bad" ECU from a competitor which is particularly important if one is in a tight points race.

I thought adjusting the timing on 99s was not possible without drilling out the hole for the CPS?

Best if you don't look too closely at Tony's car......it's picked up a few bumps and bruises along the way.

That being said, it's a piece of art if you are like most miata guys and can appreciate a good front clip or two, and painted on numbers!
