Carbotech would like to congratulate it's driver Mark Bennett on another brilliant drive!!! It sounds like the top three had a great race.

Congrats to Zalner & Brunk on their great performances as well, and nice job Brunk on your track record.

Brunk, please let me know what the new track record is? It's something that has been a mystery for some time.

Way to go Scott Brunk and Bottom Bunk. I think the Meathead guys of Mike and Bad Al did well, too. Al showed up for Sunday hardship and had never driven the track before. Mr. Bennett congrats on the win!

What a fun weekend. Congrats to #11 for the win...I am gunning for you at Nelson in a BIG BIG way [Wink]

Scott got the pole by .005 ahead of me at a 1:08:614 and Mark was a little more than a tenth back from us. Once again another race with about a foot or less off of Mark's bumper for the entire run after he passed me for the lead on about lap ten.

It was much hotter than yesterday and the times were a little of the pace. Scott's track record is a 1:08:9??....good job brother.

A big thanks to Bret, Brian, Jim Thill and Meathead for nailing my setup!!! I could do whatever I wanted to with the car and it was perfect all race long. Bret thanks for the long hours on getting that car straight and wicked fast in the turns. We were on rails and gaining with the handle.

Once again thanks for a fun weekend. It is always fun to race with the Central drivers. Angela, it was nice meeting you and thanks for the talk. You did a great job all weekend and the spin on the last lap had nothing to do with the final outcome. You are flying for such few races that you have done so far and its a pleasure to share the track with you anytime!

Oh yes....and this post would not be complete with out a big shout out to Bad Al Bell...A.K.A. "The Porn Star" for a solid finish in 4th place with zero practice and only one qualifier.

Next up Watkins Glen....my favorite track and then another round with the Central drivers at Nelson. Good job to all!!!

By the way, Happy Birthday to Chris Kellett and Happy Fathers day to all.

It was a hot, humid, and fun weekend. I ended the race about 40 pounds over weight. I wonder what I could have done against 5th-8th if I was a little lighter? I had you guys in my site the whole race, having been close enough twice to attempt a pass. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the protest that held up final results for an hour. Personal conclusion... I need one of them there RE motors [Smile]

Ken, thank you for the kind words. It was nice meeting you. You guys had quite a run going. See you at Nelson!

Congrats MB!

I also wanted to thank Jim Thill for providing me with a intake gasket. I really appreciate your help.

while most of the excitement was right at the front. i think fun started for me while on the false grid.

everyone from the 5th spot on got to see me forget my helmet, hans and gloves. [Eek!]

of course i realize this after the 5 min warning. my crew had to run back to the trailer and bring back everything while i began to strap in.

in my opinion i felt i was ready to go on the track before the 1 min warning. apparently a grid worker disagreed. [shame]

i had to sit and watch the entire field drive right past me before i was allowed to leave placing me dead last.

while my father was mad as hell at the grid worker, i'm in my car laughing my head off over the situation.

i figured... well i need the car for the 12 hour at summit next weekend. guess i won't have to worry about any first turn incidents!

heading towards the starters stand, i got an excellent start and moved up a few spots and continued up to 8th according to the results listed here.

just like summit in april with a borrowed car...

i didn't do as well as i should of but i had probably the most fun all season long.

a big thanks to all for out there for giving me room and more importantly giving me some great competition.

it seems to be a growing trend to have the planetmiata.com car right with mike collins and al bell of meathead. i'm either being chased or chasing them. [thumbsup]

hope to see most of you at the 12 hour.

The race was a blast for me also. I was the first to benefit from the grid workers decision to hold Marc, giving me a front row seat of the battle at the front. But I couldn't watch it because of the ever stout driving 75 of Mike. We ran the first half of the race swapping positions and running REALLY tight (especially down the front straight).

I was able to get a small gap after 17 laps (how many more??), only to see another Meathead car coming up from the back. Here comes Al. I was able to keep him back there until a few laps from the end. We swap positions for the remaining laps with Al coming out ahead of me on the lap that counted. That was a lot of fun out on the track. Close racing, no metal-to-metal (bumpers are plastic) contact. [Wink]

[soapbox] I do have a gripe about qualifying, beside always making practice a qualifier at the track, that has been growing over the last few races. If you go off during qualifying or bobble significantly with a car of similar pace behind you, DON'T race the guy - let them through. It's qualifying. Your lap is shot and there is no need to kill someone elses. Also, if a car tries a pass during qualifying, typically both cars laps are shot, so you might as well let them go and gap them. Ok, enough [censored] .

Thanks for the congratulations, guys. It was a nice weekend for the most part. I was disappointed that some of the SM camraderie and friendliness came to an end, but I suppose that was to be expected.

Congrats to Race Engineering for a podium sweep and especially for making #11 GO ... and thanks to Carbotech for getting it SLOWED. That's the first time I've been happy with the brakes at the Beave for more than 3 laps. Congrats on the track record also, Mr. Brunk.

Nice job, Al Bell, coming in blind for the slower of the two qualifiers after practice got highjacked.

Thanks to Walter, Salty, and Paris for the usual hilarity on the sidelines. Without you guys, I would have never known about the perils of Internet dating or witnessed The Ghost Of Motel 6. (Nor would I have found a banana peel behind my fuel door on the way home, I bet?)

Yes, it was a little strange that what was called practice on the official schedule was actually turned into a timed qualifying session. What was up with that?
Glad we were first though- it was hot in the car.

Hey Al, we asked an official what was up and they said they were trying to do the drivers a favor because they knew the afternoon would be so hot and that would affect the times?

A few of us didn't see the logic with that since it pretty much meant anyone coming in without the test day was at an even greated disadvantage ... the track was so much faster in the morning.

I'd like to publicly thank PlanetMiata for the great $99 front brake special (new rotors and Hawk Blue pads). While I was swapping wheels/tires around, I noticed a huge crack in the left front rotor. It was significant enough to have worn the outer pad down to metal. So I knew to head straight to the PlanetMiata trailer from past experience. Thanks, Marc, they worked excellent!
