Has anyone installed the Longacre Switch Panel. I am having a little difficulty and feel I have a wire wrong somewhere.

If anyone has one successfully installed and could share the diagram/instruction it would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a link to the one I am working with.

Probably goes without saying that this is not permitted in SM. For another class or street car I'd check with some of the Miata specialists that can probably talk you thru the installation quickly.

Yeah, forget about the perfectly functional ignition switch that some poor bastard at Mazda made his/her life's work to design, let's all re-engineer something that doesn't need fixed to begin with just so it can look more like a "real racecar". So what if a few amateur electrician's wiring jobs might burst into flames under the dash, it's a small price to pay for a cool dash panel. [Razz] [Big Grin]

In an emergency situation when you need to shut it off NOW, would you rather be fumbling around trying to find the key to shut it off or just flip a switch?

Isn't that what the kill switch does? [Smile]

Changing the ignition switch(electric part only) can't be any easier.

I see the ignition switch on mazdaspeed. If I am reading this right it is a $155, and I am not even sure it will fix my problem. The longacre flip switch is $40.

If someone protests, show them this in the rule book and tell them your seat is required safety equipment...

Other than to provide for the installation of required safety equipment or other authorized modifications, no other driver/passengercompartment alterations or
gutting are permitted.

J - I had the same issue (when standing on the brake for longer than "normal" my knee rises to meet the key) and ended up just bending it at 90* to keep it out of the way.

*shrug*

And as far as the "circumvention" of the standard ignition key/switch - we've kind of done that already with the master kill haven't we?

So it does come back to letter vs. intent of the rule and someone could protest you on the panel but that's the risk you take.

HTH Mr. Warren!

Umm... you only need the electrical part. It's much cheaper, but I never quote prices on a public forum.
