If you were going to contract someone to build you a spec miata, sm or ssm, what would you have them use. Example I would want a piper roll cage, team dynamic wheels. I know the rule book would make certain items mandatory. Who would you have build the engine? What diff would you use. Car is for regional races, not a front runner. Would you install a halo type racing seat? I am running a Jim Thill built car now seems pretty good.

Your help is appreciated, I know Alan will have some smart comments but they are always worth reading.

Thanks for your help. This is a serious post, not just a dream like question.

Halo seat tied to Piper Cage, huge alum radiator, torsen diff, fresh corners (hubs, calipers, rotors, pads) all around, RP Performance alignment and about 15 private track days with Bret DePedro or one of the Zalners as your coach.

And after you can consistently lap Summit as fast as your coach, in your car, go to the runoffs and buy the winner's car out of tech for $20K. [Wink]

I know where two potentially front running SM's from the runoffs will be for sale. They even park next to yours.

20K is not even close. Well into the low 30's for a runoffs car.

Back to the topic?

...but cash IS king. Besides, the car that will likely win probably isn't availble for any price.

It's a horrible color but I assure you it will be for sale right after the runoff victory. I saw it today.

Halo seat is a must. I have a kirkey full containment in my car and love it. Comfortable and good fit.

The seat sits on the floor and is almost all the way back. I could probably move it back another inch or so. I am 6'4" so I need it that far back. I have seen other Halo seats in cars were the drivers were a bit shorter so the seats were not so far back and it created issues getting in and out of the car.

Not questioning your numbers Jim, mine has a lot of older used parts, etc. You need to understand my sense of humor better. [yep]

I have heard the problem is hitting the cage with the wings in the left side.

I've seen that which is why I opted for the Ultrashield SM seat. Just like the Kirkey, but without the shoulder containment that hits the hoop.

I've got an UltraShield Road Race Halo mounted on the floor as far back as it can go and it fits fine, though I can't get my finger between the left halo and the verticle roll hoop. I've come out unscathed during several semi-severe hits (both frame benders).
