Anybody have experience with Mizumo aftermarket lifters? Or any other brand besides Mazda? The Mizumo are about $7 each, Mazdaspeed price is $37! Ouch.

I tried some aftermarket lifters and had bad luck with them. I now use the Kia lifters which are reboxed Mazda parts at about 50% cost

The KIA lifters are identical, therefore legal IMO, some would argue tech legal, they would be correct. They only difference is the Kia label vs Mazda, but once in your hand, they are identical.I have no idea on the enbay lifters, I would suspect they actually may look a little different, but no idea.

Was that really the intent of the rule?

If they are identical, they are identical, so yes, that is the intent of the rule.

Kia buys engines from Mazda, so they are the same part with a different part number. Still manufactured by Mazda, or Mazdas oem supplier.

One other difference, PRICE

The intent of the rule was that we buy our parts from the one who takes good care of us. No?

How many times have we said you can't enforce intent [Big Grin] [duck]
That was part of the intent, but the larger part IMO was to insure we were all using the same parts rather than parts that looked the same but provided an advantage

None of the car manufacturers make all their parts. Most are built for them by hundreds of part suppliers around the world. This means that parts can make it to market through different sources. Some may have been rejected by the company so caution needs to be used when buying from unknown sources. I have heard of many people using the KIA part with good success.

At least Mazda now knows who is on their side.
