Trap speeds are posted on the SCCA website:

That should give everybody something else to comment on since the other Runoffs posts are fizzling out at 400+ replies. BTW-SpecMiata is the best class out there whether you're a front runner or a midpack guy like me. Keep the rules stable, the cars affordable, avoid rules creep, and we should continue to see large fields on any given weekend.

Can't wait for 2011. Is it May yet?

Not Quite - but if you head to Florida for the first two weeks of January you will get to race 4 Nationals with some of the fastest guys in the country.

I encourage all to lengthen their racing season and make the pilgrimmage. First the double national at Sebring, then a week or R&R in the keys or similar, followed by a double national at Homestead.

Great way to break up the winter blues

Just wondering if one of the 1.6 needs help brigade can explain this to me as I really dont understand. [Big Grin] How do you explain the ONLY competitive 1.6 at the race defying 20:1 odds or better to finish P1 in this segment? A segment that includes it's TWO WORST areas up the hill between 5 and 6 and up the hill headed to start/ finish? Don't give me draft unless you are thinking all the 99's including myself were popping out to slow ourselves down?Even a better draft etc, he finsihed P10, so you might expect p5-15.. not p1. Mr Slattery? Mr Dewhurst? Mr.Carter? Mr. Keeling? Anyone? Anyone?
No more questions please...just answers [Wink]

Maybe hell will freeze over and one of you guys may actually admit you were wrong and the cars are closer than you have been claiming? ( Idoubt it) [Eek!]

Drago that is just unfair! How dare you back up your argument with facts. LOL !!! I will save the 1.6 guys time and post the response to Drago.
Drago the 1.6 got a monster draft off of a pack of 99s that where running 3 wide. It just goes to show how fast the 99s really are. [Big Grin]

1.6 drivers, don't worry I heard this today.

In 2011 the SM Championship will be handed out to whoever has the best trap speeds combined with the best theoretical lap time. . [yep] [laughing] [rolling on floor laughin]

It's the draft. From the few videos of 99's I saw, nobody knew how to drive a straight line down the straightaways or stay in line to work together.

My (admitted) guesses....
- the 99's are pretty evenly matched (hmmm)
- Slattery didn't dare pop out of any (life) line he was in.

Seen posted on a billboard in a town near you;

Your Royal Highness King James;
with utmost respect may i be allowed to suggest the above referenced "trap times" that occurred during the RunOFFs race are not relevant, nor indicative of the actual performance of the 1.6 vs the '99 at Road America.
Please refer to the qually times of the aforementioned racers which will show the true performance parameters of same. Ye shall find an average minimum disparity of 2.0 + sec per lap across three separate qualifying sessions.
Furthermore, being that for 2011, all of Merlin's magic tricks will be completely legal for the '99's to legally achieve 130/118,
being that the 1.6 will henceforth be further disadvantaged in comparison to the '99 (and the '94-'97 1.8),
being that your subjects across the land may be whispering "the Emperor may not be wearing any clothes",
i humbly request of your Royal Highness and Court (including jesters), to consider and acknowledge such obvious facts and publicly state so.
The 'Senate' is listening and watching for the signal from 'The King'. They will profligate good things and provide the unwashed masses with fresh bread to make them strong and prosper again.
The Kingdom of SM will return to it's rightful place of prominence in the land of SCCA.

In conclusion, there is absolutely no reason for the Court (and jesters) to be concerned of any possible performance gain for the 1.6, as driven by the unwashed masses, as it is a known fact all the Knights of the Round table driving '99's are the best chariot racers in all the land. Please see videos on other thread providing visual proof of the finest 'Coliseum short track' chariot racing masqueraded as the SM Runoffs race.

Carlos,
Those are not trap times... Those are segment times where the 1.6 "struggles" [Wink]
I agree trap times mean little.

yes sir, segment times, I understand ...
so,
the top 99's gained about 2.5 - 3.0 sec a lap on that 1.6 from start/finish to Turn 5 segment ....
agreed??

You lost even me? I stand by what I said, I believe what I said or I wouldnt post it. You don't "luck into" p1 and P6 in that segment with an uncompetitive car. No way, no how. That is as clear as I can make it, no reverse Jedi or ole English. [Big Grin]

yes sir, again i understand and you are correct, those 1.6's were competitive on 'race' day,
- within that segment -.
But for 3 other days that week, over the 4.0 mile segment, before Thursdays "discretion became the better part of valor", they were racing in another class at RA.
Effective 1-1-11, "valor" rules the waves, 1.6 falls further behind.
