I'm starting the winter work/repair/upgrade on the 1.6 SM, and noticed that the end link's looked a bit rough. The car has what appear's to be Gearhead's 1.0 end link's on all 4 corners (only without the rubber boot).

Any suggestions? I looked searched the history, but couldn't find any complete thread commenting on all the different options.

Thanks!

Call Jeff Labounty at Autotechnik. I replaced an old set when I was trying to figure out my handling problems. The set he sells are really nice and very easy to adjust.

Why not just replace the heim joints? That is what wears.

Hmmm... Most of the sway bar end links use heim joints also referred to as rod ends. I don't think any of the sway bar links use ball joints.

I think "heim" and "ball" joints are being mixed here. I always called a heim joint a ball joint until someone corrected me...but it does have a ball...sort of [Big Grin]

I see now. Interesting design with both a ball joint at the top and heim joint at the bottom.

Why don't people just use the end links from Mazda Motorsports? Is there a problem with them?

Those are only $30.85 each... not bad. Is anyone using them? How are they made?

As for Drago's... link? Price?

Thanks!

If they are stock then they are not adjustable. The adjustable links that have bushings rather than a heim joint, can be difficult to get a bolt through and into the sway bar at certain settings.

The heim joint is far superior in attaching to all positions with ease. [twocents]

Here is Drago's...
