e. Exhaust System
1. The factory exhaust system beyond the OEM front down pipe may be replaced, provided:
a. Said replacement system retains the original configuration, e.g. single tube design, and the tubing diameter is a maximum of 2.25 outside diameter.
b. The pipe may end anywhere after the rear subframe. Forward of the rear subframe, the pipe must follow the original path of the OEM exhaust system.

Down Pipe? Meaning Header? So not allowed the Racing Beat headers or anything like that? Just need to check I am buying parts for my new 1.6 replacement and want to avoid spending money unnecessarily

You have to retain the Factory header and downpipe.

To clarify, down pipe and header are two separate items. The downpipe is the pipe that runs between the header collector, and in stock form, the catalytic convertor.
