Not that I am complaining as I don't run Nationals, but what happened to the May race at Daytona. Hasn't that traditionally been a National/ECR instead of a Regional/ECR?

I could use a '99 if you have any extra lying around. [Smile]

How about you give me one and I'll do your taxes until I pay it off.

By the way, the real reason that Jim posted those results is that is the only race he ever beat me.

I just want to make sure everyone understands that this is not a SARRC or ECR.

There is another SARRC race the week before and the rules prevented this from being a SARRC race. I tried to work it out for a waiver but it never materialized.

Of course, all of you can use this race as a test for the big Double SARRC race at Daytona in August. It is also a chance to use up any R888 that you may have left. CFR does not require the RA1 for their non SARRC races.

Have fun and keep it on the paved part.

PS Hitting is not bump drafting.

Does that mean the tires are open or you have the option of either TOYO? It doesn't say anything in the supps....

If the supps don't specify, then the tires would be as per the current CGR/fastracks.

web page

6. Wheels/Tires
Any wheel/tire may be used within the following limitations:
a. Required rim diameter is fifteen (15) inches. Maximum rim
width is seven (7) inches. Minimum weight of wheel shall be
13 lbs without spacers. All four wheels must be the same
dimension including offset.
b. All wheels must be one-piece metal castings (not multi-piece
wheels, bolted, riveted or welded together).
c. Tires:
GCR - 580
9.1.8. Spec Miata Class Specifications
1. National Competition
All cars shall use the Toyo Proxes RA1 (205/50R15).
In addition, the Toyo R888 will be allowed through the
second national race weekend in each division. Starting
with the third national race weekend in each division, all
cars shall use the Toyo Proxes RA1 only. The only modifications
allowed to tires are having treads “shaved” or
“trued.”
2. Regional Competition
Tires must conform to 9.3.45. Individual regions may
require spec tires for regional races. Supplemental regulations
for specific events should be checked.

9.3.45

9.3.45. TIRES
Tires shall be 124 (“U”) mph rated or better unless otherwise specified
or controlled.
In the Improved Touring, Super Touring, American Sedan, Showroom
Stock, Spec Miata and Touring categories, only DOT approved tires are
permitted. Racing, recapped, or re-grooved tires are not allowed. Tire size
is unrestricted unless otherwise stated. The only modifications allowed to
tires are having treads “shaved” or “trued.”

The SEDiv rules for R888 do not apply to this race. Thus, run any compliant tire!

CFR, agree?

I am in for both, regional and ECR. Not sure why we lost the national race, I know they tried last year to make it a regional.

GD -

That tax thing was a backhanded compliment. If I could deduct all my racing expenses, tow vehicles, trailers, etc. I wouldn't owe any taxes either!!!

Looking at the results from that race, I'm surprised the '99 haters didn't use me as the "overdog" poster boy. [Big Grin]

Hey, I've still got some fast potential left in me. Last time I was at Daytona only Alex B. beat me (it did help that not many showed up).

If Tom or some of the other SpecMiata.com guys would hire me to do their taxes, I might have enough money to actually race again. Maybe even enough for me and Mr. Carlos to split a few enduros like in the good old days.

I am going to add this to my signature...

Ex-Big 4 tax partner. Will do taxes for race money or Spec Miata parts. Ask me how to get a Section 199 deduction for building your Spec Miata!!

Chris - I plan to be there assuming my car still exists and no one has stolen my trailer. I haven't seen either of them since October. [Smile]

Jim - I said "potential" for speed. You know, like the potential I showed the last time we raced at Road Atlanta back when everyone knew me because of the video website and no one knew you 'cause you were still slow. Remember how I beat you then... [Big Grin]

There are two possible reasons I will see your sticker. You are going to have a different driver in your car or I will see it when I lap you. [Big Grin]

You mean other than uncompetitive 1.6 cars won both races? [Smile] Labounty day one, Balanos day two.

I think Jaimie Tucker won the Enduro in his 99.

I ran a 22.2 in the second regional which is the fastest legit lap time of the weekend, the freedom car driven by Jonathan Czaarny (or something) seemed to be running with no plate and did a 21.0 all by himself. [shame]
